Symptoms

Consider the following scenario:

Thanks pschaeffer, Step 4 did the trick. The correct driver was in C: Program Files Common Files Apple Mobile Device Support Drivers. Under Device Manager -Universal Serial Bus controller, Apple Mobile Device USB Driver now appears for my iPad, not just my iPhone. ITunes rcognizes my iPad now and works normally. If the device is not yet connected, first install the device-specific driver, such as by using the appropriate installer. After the device-specific driver is installed, Windows 10 will select that driver instead of the standard USB audio 2.0 driver when you first connect the device. With “USB Debugging” turned on, connect your device to the computer via USB. In the DroidCam PC client, pick the USB connection option and click the refresh button. The client will try to detect connected devices. If the client detects your phone, you’ll likely get a dialog on the phone asking Allow USB Debugging, you need to tap OK. On Windows 10, a device driver is an essential piece of code, which allows the system to interact with a specific hardware (such as graphics card, storage driver, network adapter, Bluetooth, etc.

1. You connect a Universal Serial Bus (USB) audio device, such as an audio adapter or USB digital-to-analog converter (DAC), to a Windows 10 Version 1703-based computer for the first time.
2. The operating system detects the device and loads the standard USB audio 2.0 driver (usbaudio2.sys).
3. Windows then downloads the device-specific driver from Windows Update.
4. The downloaded device driver replaces the usbaudio2.sys driver.

In this scenario, the device cannot be used, and the computer does not have sound. The speaker icon on the task bar is marked with an X mark. When you select the icon, you receive the following message:

Audio services not responding. Both the Windows Audio and the Windows Audio End Point Builder services must be running for audio to work correctly.

Cause

This 'audio not playing' problem occurs because the default USB audio 2.0 driver (usbaudio2.sys) uses the WaveRT port for operation but the device-specific driver does not. However, both drivers use the 'wave' reference string when the device interface is registered.When the device-specific driver replaces the default driver, the device interface that is created by usbaudio2.sys is still used because the reference strings overlap. Therefore, the operating system assumes that the new driver also supports the WaveRT port. Because the new driver does not support the WaveRT port, the system cannot access the driver.

Resolution

To fix this problem, use one of the following methods.

Method 1

Uninstall the device. To do this, follow these steps: Canon scsi driver.

1. Open Device Manager.
2. Select and hold (or double-click) the name of the device, and then select Uninstall.

Note:In step 2, don't select the Delete the driver software for this device check box.

Method 2

Connect the device to a different USB port. The problem may not occur if the device is connected to a different USB port.

Method 3

If the device is not yet connected, install the device-specific driver first. You can do this by using the appropriate installer for the device. Then, connect the device. Windows now selects the device-specific driver instead of the default USB audio 2.0 driver. This method works in this situation because the problem occurs only if the device-specific driver replaces the default driver after the device is connected.

Install a USB driver

First, find the appropriate driver for your device from the OEM driverstable below.

Caution:You may make changes to android_winusb.inf file found insideusb_driver (for example, to add support for other devices),however, this will lead to security warnings when you install or upgrade thedriver. Making any other changes to the driver files may break the installationprocess.

Windows 10

To install the Android USB driver on Windows 10 for the first time, do the following:

1. Connect your Android device to your computer's USB port.
2. From Windows Explorer, open Computer Management.
3. In the Computer Management left pane, select Device Manager.
4. In the Device Manager right pane, locate and expand Portable Devices or Other Devices, depending on which one you see.
5. Right-click the name of the device you connected, and then select Update Driver Software.
6. In the Hardware Update wizard, select Browse my computer for driver software and click Next.
7. Click Browse and then locate the USB driver folder. For example, the Google USB Driver is located in android_sdkextrasgoogleusb_driver.
8. Click Next to install the driver.

Windows 8.1

To install the Android USB driver on Windows 8.1 for the first time, do the following:

1. Connect your Android device to your computer's USB port.
2. Access search, as follows:

   Touch screen: On your computer, swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap Search.

   Using a mouse: Point to the lower-right corner of the screen, move the mouse pointer up, and then click Search.

3. In the search box, type into and then click Device Manager.
4. Double-click the device category, and then double-click the device you want.
5. Click the Driver tab, click Update Driver, and follow the instructions.

Windows 7

To install the Android USB driver on Windows 7 for the first time, do the following:

1. Connect your Android device to your computer's USB port.
2. Right-click on Computer from your desktop or Windows Explorer, and select Manage.
3. Select Devices in the left pane.

5. Right-click the device name (such as Nexus S) and select Update Driver Software. This will launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
6. Select Browse my computer for driver software and click Next.

8. Click Next to install the driver.

5. Right-click on Android Composite ADB Interface and select Update Driver. This will launch the Hardware Update Wizard.
6. Select Install from a list or specific location and click Next.
7. Select Search for the best driver in these locations; uncheckSearch removable media; and check Include this location in thesearch.
8. Click Browse and locate the USB driver folder. (The Google USBDriver is located in android_sdkextrasgoogleusb_driver.)
9. Click Next to upgrade the driver.
