Symptom
When trying to connect to a Proficy WebSpace server using either ProficySCADA for iOS or Android you receive the error...
'Error - Connection failed. Your system does not support the user authentication method required to access this host. Please contact your system administrator for assistance.'
Environment
Webspace server 4.7/4.8/5.0
Cause
Only Integrated Windows Authentication is selected under Proficy WebSpace Administration>Tools>Host Options>Security tab. Integrated Windows Authentication uses the security features of Windows clients and servers. As a result, this mechanism cannot be used with iOS, Android, and Linux (Dell Wyse T50 ARM Thin Client).
Resolution
If most of your clients are Windows OS clients and only a few are handheld devices, enable both forms of authentication (Integrated Windows Authentication and Standard Authentication) but leave 'Cache passwords on the client' unchecked. If both Standard authentication and Integrated Windows authentication are enabled, the WebSpace Server attempts to log the user on in the following order:
* Integrated Windows authentication.
* Standard authentication, if Integrated Windows Authentication fails.
